After the bombings in Paris, France which were organized by the radical Islamic group ISIS, Texan senator Ted Cruz has come forward and stated that the refugees from Syria and other countries in similar situations will have to pass a rigorous religious test. The criteria are simple if you are Christian you may enter, if you are Muslim you may not. Cruz says this test is being instituted because agents of ISIS may try to enter the US and try to bomb us or whatnot, and also because christians pose no threat and never commit acts of terror. Obama has retaliated saying that this tests is shameful to the ideals of America.
I know Obama isn't the best guy, but I definitely agree. In early American politics there was a political party called the Know-Nothing party. Their goal was to keep America pure from foreign influences. How is this any different? Ted Cruz is obviously just using his position in order to assert his biased, cruel control over these people who have suffered under the grip of ISIS, a grip that we have created, armed, and allowed to gain dominance over the region. These people, both Christians and Muslims, have equally suffered and therefore should be equally entitled to asylum. It is simple human decency to do so.

I would understand if you were wary because of what recently happened in Paris but if your reason to reject refugees is their religion then that just proves that Ted Cruz is as horrible of a person as we think he is. It's a pity and embarrassment that he represents Texas.

Wow, Ted Cruz is really horrible - Gunnar Ozuna Period 6
ReplyDeleteIt's disgusting that Cruz would say that all Muslims should be kept out of America, because he is saying that every Muslim is a violent killer. He needs to realize that ISIS is a group of violent men, that are Muslim. Just because there are violent people who follow a religion does not mean that everyone who follows that religion is violent. --Claudia Anthony
