A Sigma Alpha Epsilon brother at Yale refused to let black people into the party, saying it the fraternity was looking for "white girls" only. This fraternity has been accused before of racism. The fraternity claims otherwise, saying they are a racially diverse chapter. In the spring the SAE chapter at University of Oklahoma got in trouble for posting a video explaining about how blacks will never get in. The head of SAE aplogized quickly after. The SAE chapter under Yale has apologized for any misunderstandings and says that they haven't done anything with racists intent. The chapter is currently under sanctions.
I can believe the whole chapter isn't racist, but how are we still dealing with this problem so much. Especially after the whole LBGT rights movement, Americans should feel that everyone deserves rights. The fact that this is still going on is disgusting.

ReplyDeleteI'm confused about why they said none of their statements were meant with racist intent when they clearly said "no blacks will get in". Even worse than making mistakes is not admitting you've made them.
I agree with Brenna. The fraternity is just making it worse by not admitting to the, obviously racist, comments. The fraternity needs to own up.
ReplyDeleteHow have they not been shut down because of the obviously racist comments? It's happened more than once too so i don't understand how they keep getting away with it.

ReplyDeleteThis is unnacceptable for anyone to say, but especially for young people who should be educated enough to know that racism is irrational.
