Protesters Smash Windows - Olivia Lambert

About a week ago, a protest turned violet when masked people were smashing windows of homes and windows in California. The protest was over the decision to indict New York City Officer Daniel Pantaleo for killing Eric Garner on July 17th. Police warned people on the streets of Berkeley that they would need to separate immediately or consequences would take place. The protesters didn't follow the police's instruction and invaded several business buildings. Some became violent anf started throwing rocks at the police officers. Police officers suffered several minor injuries because of this.
I have heard about several protests regarding politics that can be semi-violent but I have never heard of a protest over a death. This killing must have been very important to all these protesters. The man that was killed must have been popular or loved by many. The destruction of the windows is businesses and homes violated Amendment number four which states that people have the rights to be secure in their own homes which was definitely not the case here. I hope one day people can stop protesting violently and maybe plan a meeting or a debate because violence is never the answer.
