A northern white rhino has died at a San Diego zoo .He was one of six northern white rhinos still alive. Angalifu, 44, died of old age Sunday at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. There are no known northern white rhinos left in the wild. The reason why rhinos are becoming extinct is because of poachers. Poachers almost exclusively want Rhinos for their horns which can sell for tens of thousands of dollars. They use military grade helicopters with night vision equipment and guns fitted with silencers to take down the rhinos. This advancement in technology had left conservationists struggling to keep up. Experts say that rhino horn becoming more lucrative than drugs. They sell the horns to buyers in East Asia, who believe it cures a series of ailments. To stop these cruel people we need to ensure the protection of these creatures. We can have people move rhinos to a safe environment where they can be sure poachers cant reach them. We can also have law enforcement crackdown on the severe consequences that poaching can cause you. Whatever it is, we need to ensure the safety of these creatures.
