A report on the CIA during the George W. Bush administration. The program referenced was authorized by Bush days after the attacks on 9/11. In the report it detail acts of torture acted out by the US government as a way of interrogation. Even the head of the CIA called some of the techniques detailed in the report abhorrent. He also claimed that there was ongoing reforms in the CIA to ensure techniques like that are not used.
This is a very controversial topic. Is it okay to use these horrid techniques of torture to get an answer out of someone? Can the reason for these actions be justified? I don't believe that these forms of interoperation are moral or necessary. Using force or inflicting pain on someone is ineffective. If someone is truly being tortured they can be forced to say something that they can think will end their suffering. Not only is it ineffective, its also unconstitutional and I believe we should prohibit torture laws.
