15,000 join anti-Islam protest in eastern Germany - Lizette Ayala Period 5

(A new record) of 15,000 people marched in eastern Germany against the country's "Islamisation" in the latest populist movement. The leaders of said group have publicly come out to say that Germany's followers of the belief are slowly but surely growing in numbers and that there will soon be change swept across the country. Since the protests have rapidly grown in size and spawned smaller clones in half a dozen cities, a debate about immigration and refugees has gripped Germany, a country whose Nazi past makes expressions of xenophobia especially troubling. Politicians have been completely taken by surprise at the huge amount of support that this ideal is gaining and are unable to ignore the public opinion.

This most closely relates to what is happening in the southern borders of Texas at the moment, There has been heavy military patrol against immigration and also talk of large family detention centers to house those who come across the border illegally.

-- These two instances relate because they are both signs of the govt. taking public opinion into consideration for better or worse.
