Last Thursday, a time capsule from 1795 was unearthed near the Massachusetts State House in Boston. The artifact was discovered due to a water leak. Some people wanted to keep the capsule in its place, but due to the water filtration problem, officials figured they might as well look more into it. The box that was buried by Paul Revere and Samuel Adams is believed to contain coins, plates, and an inscribed plaque. The contents will be examined through x-rays and more will be announced regarding the contents inside the capsule next week.
I think this coincidental discovery is awesome. Hopefully the objects inside are still in decent shape and we will be able to learn more about our past. In the world of APUSH, Paul Revere was quite a significant historical figure; thanks to him, Americans were prepared for the "British coming!" It's pretty remarkable how even though this was buried nearly 220 years ago by him, it still to this day stirs much excitement.
