"Rangers Kill Three Poachers in South Africa" - Addison Norman pd 2

In my current event last week I covered the increase in protective measures against rhino poaching in South Africa. In the last year over 1,000 of the endangered species have been killed for the rhino's valuable horn. Now in my article this week it is recorded that three poachers have been killed in Kruger national park by park rangers. An official for the park claimed that November and December (summer months for South Africa) are the two biggest months for rhino poaching due to the increase in rain and tree growth making it easier for poachers to hide.
Rhino horn can go for over $5,000 an ounce. This is why rhino poachers can easily resemble drug cartels that impact much of the US southwest border. Poachers can be seen in the park armed with large guns to combat law enforcement. The same violence that surrounds Drug cartels in Mexico surrounds rhino poaching in South Africa that is why it isn't a surprise that three poachers were killed recently. Hopefully, park officials can control poachers before the rhino population dwindles beyond repair.
