The Polar Vortex Takes Lives -- Rose Tharp

The Polar Vortex the midwest is experiencing has taken 21 people’s lives. These victims were anyone between 18 and 60. One found at 18 walking in improper clothing for the -45 degree weather.  Another, was found squatting in an abandoned home, a woman at 60 years old. In the future people could experience flooding and bursting pipes which could cost the U.S. up to 4.5 billion dollars.

In wars throughout history many of the lives were lost to living conditions and disease. Also, just like the hurricanes in the 1800s, no one was prepared for the arctic blasts that blew through.

  2. I have heard of the Polar Vortex and the freezing weather it is causing, and I hope that these people are able to find shelter and stay safe. Lily Philips
