Summary
A 6th grader got arrested for refusing to recite the pledge of allegiance. He said it was racist and didn't feel like doing it. The substitute then told him if he didn't like it, go back to where he came from. This then sparked argument and the student refused to leave to classroom. He then was arrested.
Analysis
I believe that the subject of the pledge was for nationalism and patriotism. It does has its flaws since when we were kids we had to stand up to do it. It felt like a chore more than pride. At Boooker T. some people don't even stand up to do it. But teachers like Dr. Jacko demands us to do so because of what it means to us. I feel as though we should allow people who want to do it do it because opinions matter.
