On Saturday morning, a TSA agent fell to his death from a hotel balcony inside the Florida Orlando International Airport. The man was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His name has not been released, and preliminary information suggests it to be a suicide. Many flights were delayed or cancelled, and people were rushed through screenings. As of now, things have begun to return to normal and people are wishing the TSA member and his family well.
This article was written by Jason Hanna and Shawn Nottingham and edited a day after the incident. They don't mention possible causes for the TSA agent's suicide, but that is probably because of the short amount of time that has passed since his death. The man has not been named of yet, and I don't know if that is because of personal wishes of his family or something else. One thing I do find mildly disturbing is that the article spends more time focusing on flight delays than the man himself. Hopefully, some good can come out of this tragedy, such as more sensitivity to workers' mental health, like the eventual results of the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire in 1911.
