America’s Debt Crisis- Gracie Zytynski
President Donald Trump’s state union failed to mention the level of debt the U.S. is currently in. Our growing debt is threading the U.S. economy, effecting the lives of Americans. Currently our national debt has reached $22 trillion. Our debt is now the fastest growing part of the federal budget. Interest is expected to hit $383 billion in 2019, increasing to $928 billion in 2029. Before 2050, we will most likely spend more more on interest payments than any other government program or department. This is important to know because it informs Americans the amount of debt we are currently in, and this debt can possibly result in a rise in taxes. This also connects to the debt the U.S. was in after WW1 at $2.81 trillion.

I think that this debt crisis is very scary for the country. I hope that our next president can help to reduce the total debt.
ReplyDeleteTrump needs to look at that more closely
