Government Shuts Down as result of Political Party Feud-Victoria Gonzalez CE #1

The Government shutdown resulted because of two things: the first being the refusal to compromise, the second-complete and total ignorance of the situation at hand. The shutdown officially started January 21, 2018 after the standoff between the Democratic and Republican party. The Republican party wishes to settle on a budget plan with the Democratic party for issues such as military funding, the wall, and illegal immigrants while the Democrats want to focus on a solution that keeps and protects DACA, or Deferred Actions for Childhood Arrivals. However, the refusal to compromise severed any hopes for finding middle ground since neither party compromised in order to settle a deal. Finally, ignorance of the situation at hand strikes a match threatening the already oil-drenched politicians we have settling this feud. The ignorance threatens an explosion of wasted resources, time and ideals considering the fact that both political parties have forgotten that their job is to serve the people not serve the party. Not to mention that like always President Trump believes he's on the verge of genius even though his government memos replaced with golf retreats is what got us here in the first place. So to put this article at an end, we conclude with taxpayer dollars wasted, an inconclusive debate, and a president who declared the game a victory even though he isn't the referee-if he's ever going to compromise a single time within his term, I hope it's now.

  1. I feel like no matter what, the parties have always been able to find some kind of way to agree but suddenly they can’t...what a coincidence. They need to start working together soon because while the government is shut down some people won’t have money to provide for themselves.
