Trump on the existing North Korean nuclear debate//Trevor Turnbow

In this article it presents some new statements that have been made on the escalating North Korean nuclear crisis. Contrary to prior actions, Trump has taken diplomatic approaches in South Korea to diffuse the ever present tension. The powerful alliance between the US and South Korea they hope will inspire North Korea to come down and talk of denuclearization. Trump believes North Korea can hopefully do the right thing to avoid war on the Korean Peninsula, but also said they are willing to fight if need be. Trump met with the prime minister of Japan and they both agreed anything was on the table when it comes to North Korea, also many leaders agree that at this point any outside country backing North Korea is unacceptable. While still willing to fight, the hope for a peaceful dialogue with North Korea is a hopeful solution to this ever-escalating situation.
I think that this is a nice switch to see from our president. He never has really been one for diplomacy, especially in regards to North Korea. It's comforting to see he has seemingly cast out his previous ballistic rhetoric to go for a more reasonable, sensitive approach. This is the way that we get solutions. Call me an optimist but this gives me a tiny shred of hope for peace, or at least an armistice of some sort, with North Korea and not crazy nuclear warfare. Avoidance of war on the Korean peninsula is necessary. Since the Korean War six decades ago the divide has been very clearly evident between North & South Korea, but South Korea is looking to maybe not close the divide, but create peace and a healthy relationship with their neighbor. They don't want to lose all they've rebuilt since the first Korean War.
