Sadie Schiermeyer

It is rare to find someone in our country who hasn’t been affected by gun violence, whether directly or indirectly. Zoe Chance, a college professor living in a small town, has had many encounters with the problem. These encounters range from distant cousin to direct family, from just barely escaping to losing someone completely. She makes it clear that she believes there should be more thorough background checks such weapons should be available to citizens. However, as much as this is an anti-gun article, she claims she just wants to spread awareness.

I think this is really important for people in our society to see right now. It is really easy for us to push the problem aside when we feel like it doesn’t affect us. This gives us further insight into what victims go through, and will hopefully convince people to stand up. In history, we see people stand up in similar situations for the same reasons: to spread awareness. Often times it works and brings change, and for the safety of our friends and family let’s hope it works for us too.

  1. This is so important. SO many other developed countries have gun control and that's why they don't have as many mass shootings, let alone gun deaths. The only thing restricting people from getting guns here is age and I think that's incredibly terrifying.
