A gunman, Devin Patrick Kelley, who opened fire at the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs is stirring up problems with the Air Force and the firearm sale. Devin Patrick Kelley was sold firearms which he then used to cause a mass shooting but was never background checked before the sale went through. He has been accused of assaulting his wife and children in the past and was then sold a gun which was used to do much more harm. Controversy has stricken over the Air Force because they were being backlashed for not background checking this man before he was sold the gun. The Air Force has come back to say that they had never looked back at Kelley's court martial conviction for domestic assault that could have prevented him from purchasing the gun and causing the shooting. Also there is the fact that Kelley once served in the Air Force but was then courtmartialed in 2012.
This article ,written by Zachary Cohen, gives us an insight to the problems in the military and government that can be prevented if taken more into consideration. The government and military need to take these things more seriously and look at them more closely because if actions like these keep happening, our country will be full of problems and turmoil. Like in US History, things that may seem small and not as important at that moment can take a toll and cause bigger problems than you think.

What actions do you think should be taken due to the fact that they didn't background check Kelly? In my opinion I think they should be fired because its common sense to make sure you're selling a firearm to a responsible person.

ReplyDeleteWhat will be done to make sure that this never happens again? How can a man who was courtmartialed for domestic assault be given a gun.
