Caroline Carter-Netflix dumps Kevin Spacey

In response to the new sexual harassment allegations against Kevin Spacey, Netflix has terminated their associations with the actor. Spacey has not been formally charged with any crime, but several women and young men have come forward about his questionable advances toward them. Allegations against Spacey have also been made in Britain, in relation to a 2008 assault claim. Netflix has suspended work on House of Cards and will not finish post-production work on Spacey's new film, Gore.

While it is unfortunate that so many high-profile Hollywood actors and producers are being so indecent to young people, it is a good sign that big companies like Netflix are taking a stand against them. In many other cases, employers of sexual offenders will shrug their shoulders and do nothing about the claims and the assaulter will live their lives unpunished. Take our president, for example. He openly bragged about the numerous women he assaulted in his years as a businessman, yet he was still elected to be president of the United States. However, Netflix's actions are hopefully a sign that this will change and more sexual offenders will be punished for their actions.

  1. This new awakening of victims coming out, will bring out the true companies and people who will not stand for this. Netflix knows that supporting any allegations to sexual assault means bad business, while other high power people in government choose to turn a blind eye, even brag about it.

  2. Thank you Netflix! I'm glad that corporations are taking a stand. They're setting a positive example for more people to condemn sexual harassment.

  3. My question is whether Netflix would've dumped Spacey if they found out about his questionable (or illegal) actions before the public; if history has taught us anything, it's that companies care about their image as much as if not more than their employees. That said, good on you Netflix.
