While countries that have struggled with forced underage marriage have created laws strictly preventing it (Zimbabwe, Malawi, and El Salvador) child marriage remains legal in the US. Half of the American states have set no minimum age below which you can not get married. Over 200,000 minors were married between 2000- 2015 in America. Parents and outside sources are forcing children to marry and forcing young girls into adulthood and the pressures of raising a family when they aren't ready.
In other countries that have completely banned child marriage, the marriage of anyone under 18 is seen as a human rights abuse that forces girls into adulthood when they're not physically or mentally ready for growing up completely. I don't understand how in 2017 the United States still hasn't outlawed child marriage. I'm just concerned with the sanity of the government help.

I completely agree with you, and I totally believe that it is intended for the manipulation of young girls more than boys. I feel like women need to be more informed about their violation of human rights, and should speak out against injustice like these.
