Tarantino knew about Weinstein's sexual misconduct: Heaven-Leigh Pettis

What Tarantino has to say about Weinstein

For those who don't know who Harvey Weinstein is, he and his brother, Bob Weinstein, co-founded Miramax, which produced independent films like Pulp Fiction, Clerks, The Crying Game and Sex, Lies, and a Videotape. He and his brother later went onto being co-chairman of The Weinstein Company but Harvey was fired in October 2017 because of numerous allegations of sexual harassment, sexual assault and rape against him, Harvey was fired by the company's board of directors, and expelled from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. He was also suspended from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts and on October 12, 2017, the Hachette Book Group dropped the imprint of Weinstein books . More than a dozen women have accused Weinstein of rape, sexual harassment, and assault. Subsequently, many women in the film industry have admitted to having similar experiences with Harvey, who denied non-consensual sex.
Quentin Tarantino, a movie director, close with Harvey, now states that, "I knew enough to do more than I did. There was more to it than just normal rumors, the normal gossip. It wasn't secondhand. I knew he did a couple of these things. I wish I have taken responsibility for what I heard. If I has done the work I should have done then, I would have not worked with him." Tarantino says that he's known about Weinstein's misconduct before any articles. His own former girlfriend, Mira Sorvino, told him about advances Harvey made on her and unwanted touching and another actress told him a similar story years ago. He also knew that Rose McGowan, an actress, had reached a settlement with Harvey but Tarantino failed to consider whether the women knew a larger part of the pattern of the abuse. Though he continued to produce movies with Harvey, he now regrets it.
I definitely think that Tarantino should've been more observant and not have overlooked the stories he heard but I think its good that he's now speaking out on it, I do wish he have done it sooner though.

  1. This is the biggest issue coming from this story: Not speaking up. Women have been silenced and their very important voices have not been heard. Now, it is a better time than any for women to stand up and speak their minds.
