North Korea Possibly Launching More Satellites

On October 17, North Korea's UN ambassador stated that they plan to "launch many more satellites and accused the United States of trying to block its efforts to help peacefully develop outer space." Kim declares that from 2016 to 2022, they have devised a plan to launch several satellites "that can contribute to the economic development and improvement of the people's living." Kim states that North Korea will send satellites into only for the desire for economic and lifestyle improvements, but how do we know that for sure? North Korea is infamously known through their ambition to stockpile large amounts of weapons to further strengthen their military, especially missiles. By allowing North Korea to launch satellites into space, we must keep in mind that this potentially could be an excuse in order to conduct missile tests in space. With the addition to missiles in space, this would seriously rack up the amount of nuclear weapons they have (ICBM's).

This could be a serious problem because even though they don't have the largest military budget, they have made accusations, such as ; Trump declaring war against North Korea and there could be a potential of them firing missiles if they develop one that is strong enough. However, the treaty on outer space states that "[it is] a common asset of humankind and all countries can develop outer space without any discrimination." Even though the UN and US feel insecure about allowing North Korea to launch satellites, they still have the right to. While I believe North Korea shouldn't be allowed to launch satellites into space, do you think North Korea should be permitted to launch satellites?
