Last Sunday night, October 2nd, at a Las Vegas outdoor country music festival where Jason Aldean was headlining, 64-year-old Stephen Paddock shot hundreds of bullets into the crowd from his hotel room. Fifty-eight of the people he shot passed away and over 500 were injured. Afterwards, Paddock committed suicide right as police broke down the door of his hotel room. ISIS claims the the gunman converted to Islam before the shooting. Which is very unlikely because ISIS did not post any evidence for its claim. There is no known motive at this point.
In America, access to guns is way too easy which leads to tragic events like these. There is no limit to how many weapons one person can have or how powerful those weapons can be. It will be interesting to see if any laws on firearms will be placed. However, I don't think our current president will do anything about it. I also want to know what led Paddock to kill and injure all those people.

I agree that in America access to guns is way too easy, which in terms leads to tragic events like these. My heart goes out to all of those affected by this terrible mistreatment of a right.
ReplyDeleteI hope these families recover after this tragedy. This is so upsetting. I hope this really makes our leaders take a closer look at gun laws.
ReplyDeleteI think it's ridiculous how some news programs immediately dismiss any talk about gun control, whereas if the attacker had a rarer ethnicity then a tougher immigration system is immediately considered. We have to realize these attacks go beyond ethnicity and nationality but the ability to I hope justice is served for the victim's and their families.
ReplyDeleteIm quite upset with the fact that the shooter is not being referred to as a terrorist because of his skin color. this man is indeed a sociopath but it is still an act of terrorism if he is white. This event is extremely tragic.
