US immigration: DACA and Dreamers explained

Summary:
Deferred action for Childhood Arrivals or DACA is a program that helps undocumented teenage immigrants live in the US without fearing deportation and offers them opportunities to go to school, have a wider options for the workforce, apply for credit cards and/or drivers license. Barack Obama put this program in place in 2007. Many people consider it unconstitutional and believe it encourages illegal immigration. In some cases DACA is the only thing keeping "dreamers" alive or on their feet.
Analysis:
Personally i believe DACA offers a sense of hope to people like us, that are not privileged, that even if they're undocumented they can have an equal opportunity as everyone else to strive. Some of the people that are receiving benefits from DACA work harder than the average american to become someone better, to go to school, or even to help sustain their family. Many trump supporters believe they are taking away jobs that belong to them when the reality is they are working jobs that they reject. If DACA is taken away more than 800,000 people would be deported. Thats 800,000 families being broken apart. That also mean with 800,000 less people in the work force our economy will decline in less than a decade. I believe that 'In the land of opportunities' everyone should have an equal opportunity to strive and when our peers succeed we should celebrate it as our own triumph no matter the race, sex, religious belief, sexual orientation, etc.
Yeah, I agree fully with that because no matter what the world is still going with the amount of different people that's in it and you can't really stop that.
ReplyDeleteI agree. I feel like most people who don't like DACA don't completely understand what it does for the country. If it was taken away, it would be devastating.

ReplyDeleteI think that the DACA has definitely helped our country as well as the young dreamers. These are young men and woman who were brought to America because their parents wanted them to have a better shot at life and they believe that in America, that that could happen. I wish more people would see the seriousness of having DACA taken away, not just for our country, but for the individuals who have been "blessed"/ "helped" because of it.
