17-year-old high school student, Alyssa Kapasi, became aware of the hunger among fellow classmates and other school children as her education continued, eventually coming to the decision to have it drive to a halt. Named 'Food For Thought', Kapasi created an app developed for the purpose of having parents avoid extensive online payment processes for their children's school lunch meals and, most importantly, have the opportunity of paying for the meal of another anonymous hungry student. A 'pay-it-forward' method, Kapasi believes that with the combination of easy online platforming and optional opportunities for charitable goodness, school hunger will drop. In a team named "Team Fig", consisting of Kapasi, schoolmates Emma Yang (who had created the first app targeted in aiding seniors with Alzheimer's disease), Ivy Mao, and Gabrielle Rich, these students continue their goal in overcoming hunger in their communities.
Overwhelmed by individuals and groups driven by taking advantages for their personal motives today, this generation is removing worries of the future step-by-step. It's amazing of how the levels of maturity and responsibility for the community has risen in youths, demonstrating unity for a better movement.
