Trump and Puerto Rico | Mica Stout

Lately, there have been efforts by Trump and the government to help rebuild Puerto Rico's area due to the hurricanes. The military also has helped distribute food, which Trump believes shouldn't have to happen because "it's not their job." The main argument is that he believes there is enough food and water supplies to go around, but the distributing chain in Puerto Rico isn't doing their job.

This to me reminds me of the checks and balances system. Everyone should be doing their job correctly. The president helps supply what Puerto Rico can't necessarily get to at the moment, and Puerto Rico takes and gives to their own population. As long as the correct supplies are shipped then the people can get up faster. I think that a small problem is that the people who receive those supplies aren't providing their fair share to the people.

Trump wasn't in my opinion allowed to say that they didn't deserve help from the military, no matter what everyone deserves help and we can't "hog support." There's always something to be done.

  1. I agree with you that everyone deserves to be helped, especially after people's homes, even lives, have been destroyed.
