Henry Haas- ISIS ambush raises questions

Recent releases of information regarding US involvement in the war against ISIS shed some light on an event that killed 4 American soldiers and 5 Nigerians. On the way back from a mission to report, the soldiers were ambushed by approximately 50 members of ISIS on October 4th. It took one hour for the phone call to reach federal forces, leading to the assist of aircraft about an hour after the call, or two hours after the inciting incident. It shed some much needed light on the situation America is dealing with in Africa, but it also raises concerns. It seems every time we learn something new about this war it is at the cost of American people. First intel and now communication services have been improved upon because more people died. My question would be how should this affect our mindset? This fight already takes very meticulous planning, but should we be more concerned with predicting or preparing for what we know is coming? It’s up to the pentagon to make that decision, and I hope they make one that brings our hardworking soldiers home soon.

  1. I'm so glad to hear that the US is helping with issues regarding ISIS. The more help we get, the easier it'll be to finally end their terror on the world.

    1. Yeah, it’s reassuring to know that we’re getting a bit more of a handle on the situations at hand here and that possibly soon we should be able to end the conflict

    2. I agree. I feel like not knowing what's going on in our country and outside of our country is really scary. Knowing even a little bit of information is more than nothing.

  2. I agree that is good that we have more information but I like the point that you raised in that why did people have to die at the cost of American lives. It almost seems like militarily, the US is always behind the corner and is always surprised.

  3. I have always believed that when something bad happens, some good must come out of it and if some americans have to die to gain information that saves others that may just be the best case scenario.
