Qiaunci Jones- Florida Power Outages
In Florida power and lights is a no show with Hurricane Matthew striking. Reports saying over 517,000 customers don't have electricity. Florida Gov. Rick Scott said Friday morning that the state is only halfway through the storm and more outages are inevitable. Scott urged residents to stay away from downed power lines until utility crews can fix them.
Multiple counties have been powerless, such as , Brevard County, Volusia, and Palm Beach. This article is significant because this isn't the first unfortunate weather problem to happen in Florida. This article was posted on October 7, 2016, only two days after report of the the storm starting to hit. Hurricane Matthew has already hit Haiti, and more than likely has killed a few. Flordia Gov. reports that this storm is very serious and to stay well protected. In some ways it is similar to Hurricane Katrina. Weather reporters say Hurricane Matthew is only halfway through.
