This article was written at 8:17 am, Monday, October 3rd, 2016, written by Briana Duggan, and Stephanie Busari. During a holy festival in central Ethiopia, police began to file "warning shots." The festival was called Oromo Irreechaa. The attackers victimized elders who were getting ready to step forward to say blessings. The police claimed to have tried to warn the people with shots being fired. However, others say differently. We know that there were at least 52 casualties. Others claim as many as 120 people were dead. A "ruling party" has been trying to take over this festival for a long time. This relates to history in which people will often break out in fatal violences just to express their opinion. During the colonial era of American history, many colonists fatally fought with the Native Americans because they wanted they land. It is significant because violence is a non-stop everlasting problem. Here is just yet another example of it.
This is horrible how many people were killed! Specially the elders! It's sad that the people who are supposed to be in authority reacted so violently.
ReplyDeleteIt's crazy the effects in our world, and how everyone is starting to feel unsafe because of the things happening in it.
ReplyDeleteI agree that violence seems endless, but I hope that it can at least be minimized. But even if we're all put into a virtual reality where no physical damage can be done to others, some a**hole will manage to hack into it and either disconnect people, cut off life support, or lock people's virtual selves off and do psychological damage. People are messed up, and all we can do is try to be less messed up than those around us.
