Kyla Thomas (1st Period) A vote 103 years in the making

Summary: This article is about a 103 year old woman who doesn't let her age stop her from doing things that are important to her. She knows that this upcoming election is very important and she wanted to be the first person in her state to cast their vote. She was born during the time of the first World War and during that time, women weren't allowed to vote. She is definitely making up for the times that she couldn't vote by making her vote evident and count in this very important election. On Hillary's part, I believe that having a woman support her of that age could possibly bring about more votes for Hillary. It definitely appeals to the voters emotions seeing a precious and sweet older lady voting for Hillary. The lady said that she looks forward to history being made by there being the 1st female President of the United States of America.

Analysis: This article was written by  MJ Lee. The author didn't really have much of their point of view. It was mainly an informational article. This article was written on September 30th which shows its relevancy to the political uproar that we are experiencing currently. It's very important that this article was written at the time it was written to secure more votes for Hillary Clinton. Prior to reading the article, I was well aware of the 2016 elections and the current status of the debates and current political news. It's very smart of Ms. Clinton to show that she has an interest to all people of America despite age, cultural background, or race. Articles like this appeal to her credibility. The article has a positive effect on the reader because it shows that people who are wise, are voting for Hillary which will increase her votes. This article was written to tell the story of a woman with great wisdom and her view of current politics. She's seen many elections and she has decided to take a stand to the public on her views. The point that is meant to be conveyed is that Hillary is a good woman that cares about the elderly. Concluding from the article, my prediction is that Hillary's votes will slightly increase, It's relevant because we need a president that has the best interest for the country and not just in it for their own personal gain. In relation to US History, before the 19th amendment was ratified, women weren't allowed to vote. The lady that the article is about, experienced that and since is was a first hand experience, it makes the story more interesting and valid. She is now able to vote and she plans to make her vote count this year.
