Summary:
This article is about the rise and decline of flu shots/miss over the years. Doctors predict because the nasal spray "didn't work" that the decline of getting a vaccination, of the flu, will drop.Doctors stress the seriousness of getting the flu vaccine because around 24,000 people died from it each year. But, with the flu miss, for children under 6 months went up to 75%. Over all 144 million people or 45.6% of people in the U.S. vaccinated last year. 43.6% were people from 50 to 60 years old and 63.4% with people above 64. The majority of people going to hospitals for the flu are mainly adults. With people with lung or heart problems its highly recommend that you get the flu vaccine. But, some people don't know what else a vaccine can help you with. Even though it has a low rate to stop diseases like measles, it can cut your risk for infection by half." It's the best we have," said Dr. Wilbur Chen, director of the Travelers' Health Clinic of the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore. "A vaccine partially protective is better that no vaccination at all."
Analysis:
This article made by Kimberly Leonard at September, 29, 2016 talks about the stress of doctor over the rise and fall of flu vaccines. This article is being negative towards telling people about the decline of the flu vaccine but, positive at the same time to tell people to get the shot/miss. For me, I think that it is ridiculous to not get a vaccine. Why put yourself and your family at risk where if the slim chance of it happening you're safe? It's better to be safe than sorry. Maybe I don't know that other point of view but, the only answers they give to that question is "I don't see a bother" or "It doesn't help". This article was written to increase the knowledge of how important the flu vaccine is and how it's so underused. Why do people not like the flu vaccine? For me, my worst fear is shots and the flu miss helped me so much not be absolutely terrified when I went to the doctor. Now, since there stopping the flu miss, it's going to be difficult for me to pull through with it but, I can manage. Another event that relates to this is the measles outbreak at Disney land in California. With adults/ parents not caring about vaccinating their kids because " I see no point". Why vaccinate my kid if they're never gonna even have the chance to be around that disease?

Some people tend to avoid these shots because they assume it might give them a higher chance to actually get the flu. Weird, eh?
ReplyDeleteI believe that certain vaccines should become mandatory. When you do not get vaccinated, you are not only putting yourself at risk. You are putting people that are too young to get vaccines (or have an illness that prevents them from vaccinating) in danger. When people get vaccines, it prevents the spread of diseases to these vulnerable people. Not only this, but it prevents the virus from having a chance to further mutate. Therefore, you can even put immune/vaccinated people in danger.
ReplyDeletePeople should be vaccinated for their safety. People may be afraid of needles, but the flu is worse than the shot.
ReplyDeleteNot getting vaccinated not only puts yourself at risk, but others as well. There is proof that vaccinations do prevent sicknesses more often than not.
