Free Education!!!!! - Harper Jones

Summary: South African students come together to fight for free education for blacks. Their leader, Busisiwe Seabe, says that they feel cheated by the government. Most of the students want to learn, but can't due to the administrators shutting down the campus and a multitude of police officers surrounding the school. The leaders have no control of their followers and they aren't able to control the anger of students, so the police take control by using shot guns, rubber bullets an tear gas. The students believe that the law enforcement has militarized their campus. This is a fight around the country.

Synthesis: Due to my previous knowledge about education, the economy, and some struggles, I understand what the black students in South Africa feel. College is money and some people don't have a silver spoon to pay for it. It is already a struggle when you have tons of bills and people to care for, but adding on to the debt by placing student loans and books to the pile is just making things worse. I understand that the students should've kept their tempers and not have it escalate that far, but you have to go through the storm and scream out in outrage in order to create a rainbow.

  1. This generation is exception to become the world's next great leaders, yet older generations are constantly taking advantage of us by charging a fortune for our education. Cheating today's youth in order to get a fat pay check discourages a value in learning, and causes millions of student to go into crushing debt. Helping students should be the world's top priority, because eventually we'll be the ones running it.
