Synopsis: 21 people have died from the hands of Hurricane Matthew. With President Obama declaring it a major disaster in North Carolina on Monday, federal funding is available to several counties in the state. Thousands of people have been evacuated and moved from their homes, leaving behind almost everything they own to be destroyed by the storm. With countless homes and businesses already obliterated by the storm, and more flooding to come, the amount of damage is going to be enormous. With people still missing in some places, the east coast is extremely on edge.
Analysis: This hurricane is devastating. Not only to the people who have lost their friends and family members, but to the people whose homes and jobs were washed away by the storm. A disaster of this magnitude is going to take an immeasurable amount of time to undo. The lives of the people who live in these areas is going to be changed forever.
Synthesis: Hurricane Matthew is comparable to Hurricane Katrina, arguably one of the most powerful hurricanes in recorded history. This destructive storm happened just a few states away from where Hurricane Matthew has landed, and not too long ago either. The people of places like Louisiana are still recovering from the traumatic event, and have not fully rebuilt all that they have lost. There's no telling how long it will take for the people effected by Hurricane Matthew to recover from this devastating setback.

I feel bad for all of he people that were affected by the hurricane. I can't imagine just dropping everything I own and leaving for it all to get destroyed.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree, it's horrible what is going on over there. People are out of jobs, so how can they survive
