Gun violence has always been an issue in America, though it has become more apparent in the recent years. President Obama strives to reach out and stress the need for control over gun ownership and availability throughout America. Obama has recently seen to that the data of Americans that have died through gun violence have been compiled by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the US State Department. They found that the number of deaths by firearms in the United States from 2001 to 2014 is 440,950 people. The attacks included are significantly more numerous in the recent years. This should be a wake up call for some, if not a reminder of the crisis at hand.
Not only is this matter a pressing one, but one that has yet to be properly and efficiently addressed. Action needs to be taken now. We have the opportunity to suppress the amount of gun violence in our country and lessen the grief that is caused as a result. Too many have lost loved ones in a situation that could be prevented with the proper steps taken. In no way am I implying that by doing this, there won't be any more gun violence or lives lost, but it can defiantly led to the prevention of some.

Kiri Luckey: I believe people should be certified to carry a gun. I also believe that people with special diseases should be unable to carry a gun.
ReplyDeleteI think that our certification process needs to be harder, but trying to take everyones guns will take us back to the prohibition days. Our leaders and we as a people need to figure out what to do and fast.
