Weekend Mall Attack- Leah Lara

Over the weekend, ISIS claimed responsibility for civilian stabbings in a Minnesota mall. The attacker, Daheir Aden, was shot by an off duty officer during the incident and is being described as a "normal american kid. Daheir wore a security guard's uniform and started attacking people at random when he entered the mall. The FBI is dealing with the attack as a act of terrorism, although it has no seen connections to the bombings in New York.  The FBI and police are most disturbed by the lack of connection between Daheir and ISIS, and assimilated life here in America. He had immigrated to the U.S. at five, and attending school, and had no other known incidents.

It is quite disturbing for terrorist attacks to be happening so recently, so close to each other. Along with this attack, there were bombs put in place my a terrorist in New York. This being so close to the anniversary of 9/11 makes us reflect on what is really important and the need to unite as a country. Rather then focusing  on the attack exclusively, this article also focuses on the unexpectedness of the attack and the attacker. The police have no idea where this came from- and the reasoning behind his actions. This is also making people question their behavior toward immigrants and Muslims- debating whether there should be stricter profiling-or if profiling and exclusion is driving people over the edge.

  1. I find these attacks recently rather disturbing as well. This country seems to be falling apart with this election and these violent events.
