New York Bombing- Abbey Winiger

SUMMARY- A bombing occurred in New York and the purpose is still unknown. 29 people in the Manhattan area were injured by these events. New York Major Bill de Blasio says "We know it was a very serious incident, but we have a lot more work to do to be able to say what kind of motivation was behind this." The people of New York are inquiring whether these events were a political movement or personal motivation. A clue was found a few blocks away from the scene which was a pressure cooker with dark colored wire protruding, connected by silver duct tape connected to what looks like a cell phone. City officials have involved the public into discovering who was behind this event. Investigators have also been scrubbing down security videos for clues, but so far nothing has been found pointing to the suspect. The explosion occurred in a busy neighborhood in Chelsea, residents share that they saw a bright light and heard a booming. The neighborhood smelled of sulfur, and the explosion echoed for miles. 

ANALYSIS/SYNTHESIS- I think this article was written to inform the public about terror occurring throughout the United States. This story was written by CNN by writers Mallory Simon, Tm Hume, and Catherine E. Shoichet for informing the public of dangers in Chelsea. CNN is a reliable source and is a large name in sharing worldwide news.  I heard about this event on Twitter by the sharing of information and sending prayers to those effected and injured. This story has a negative impact because it shares how terrorism has taken place in Chelsea, New York. This story reminds me of the Boston Marathon bombing, and how many people were impacted by this event. The accounts of neighborhood residents in New York remind me of the Boston marathon stories of how they saw a big flash of light and heard a large echoing boom.
