'Make America great again' branded hate speech on campus

Chris Willis's Blog! Woop.

On student decides to walk up in his school with a red 'Make America great again' hat. Students and  started giving him harassment and hate for wearing the hat. One student actually attacked the student, and said it was "Hate speech."  and that it was not allowed on campus. He was told to remove it.

Uh, okay. First of all, I don't exactly see what the problem is here. He was wearing a hat to show his liking to Trump. It's not like he was expressing it violently or loudly. From the information here, he was doing it peacefully. I mean, hey, I don't like Trump that much, but I'm not going to ruin other people's beliefs on him just because I don't like it. It reminds me of the time when people couldn't choose certain religion just because someone didn't like it, or it wasn't something they were practicing. So, what do you think? Do you think that it was necessary  to make a scene about someone expressing freedom of speech?

Here's the link below! Have a good day.

  1. Im with you on this one. No matter who you are supporting, if you are peacefully supporting them, it is not right to be harassed. The lengths that some people go to try and make a change amazes me...

  2. This election is getting really out of hand with the supporters hating on both sides. This isn't right especially after out forefathers died for us to have the right of democracy. This is a great synthesis especially for Anne Hutchinson or Roger Williams.

  3. Although Donald Trump has said some terrible things and people still follow him, they shouldn't be treated with disrespect because of their beliefs. That's the same as religion. Just because your views another person may be different, you have no right to treat them poorly.

  4. I think that although Trump displays very conflicting views, anyone should be able to support who they support. It seems like he wasn't telling people what to believe, so people shouldn't tell him who and who not to support. People should be more peaceful with politics.

  5. I agree. While I personally do not support Trump, Freedom of Speech is a guaranteed right in the first amendment of the constitution. Seeing as the student was not disruptive or hateful in their support for Trump, they should not have received the harsh treatment that they did.
