"If you really want to stop this epidemic of violence, the best way to stop a bullet is with a job."- Ciaja Beck 4th Period
Summary: My Article was written by Amanda Wills and Sergio Hernandez, CNN reporters who did a visual guide of Chicago's 500th homicide of the year. The city is on pace to record well over 600 murders for 2016, a threshold it has not reached since 2003. Chicago regularly recorded more than 700 murders a year in the 1990s as gang violence, driven by the crack-cocaine epidemic, raged. This articles discusses about the comparison of Chicago's violence to other cities, and the number of shooting from past years to now. While watching a footage of a man interviewing a woman who son had just been shot by police,in the background there was a man lying on a street beside others, Father Pfledger called out: “We’re tired of the blood. We’re tired of the tears. We need peace. We need help. State of emergency!” Officials says that many people are moving because of the violence in the city, sometimes resident members inform their children not to play outside because it isn't safe.
Analysis: What I don't like is that we have so much black on black crime and we tend to try to blame it on other people when we're basically helping them to kill us. Also its very sad to tell your grandchildren they cant go out to play because of the simple fact there's a high risk of your child's life being threaten. Just because it’s not happening to you, doesn’t mean that it isn’t happening. If your life took a change for the worst wouldn’t you want someone concerned of the injustices to help you fight for your freedom? http://www.cnn.com/2016/09/06/us/chicago-homicides-visual-guide/index.html
There should be an end to violence in Chicago. Of course there's violence everywhere, but not to the extent of walking out of your house and immediately get shot or injured. It's not right and the city of Chicago has the potential to change,
