ABC news anchor, Elizabeth Vargas, has just recently announced in an interview about her drinking problem. She has now overcome the problem, but when she sees other people drinking she says "I don't look at them and think 'I want one', i think 'I miss that'". This problem has really turned out hideous for her. Vargas states in her interview that she had many relapses, where she would get better again, but then the problem would come back, worse. In fact, her relationship ended with her husband because of how bad this problem was, and she almost lost her job as the news anchor. Vargas is very blessed to be alive today because one time her alcohol level was at .4, a deathly level.
This article was created by ABC which is where Vargas works. This was published on September 9, 2016 which shows that Vargas just recently admitted her problem. Additionally, i didn't have any knowledge of this subject before i read the article. I believe that this article was written to show something little can turn into a huge problem and change your life forever, little did Vargas know that something such as drinking could lead to divorce and almost losing her job. I hope that people can learn from this and realize that you can't ever take anything back no matter how hard you try, you will always remember and so will others. This can relate to history because the Cult of Dionysus believed that intoxication brought people together, and Vargas believed that alcohol made her feel better.
