Ava Noble: 8 Taken to Hospital After Minnesota Mall Stabbing Spree

   In a Minnesota mall in St. Cloud, a stabbing spree occurred, leaving eight people with injuries. The attacker was dressed in a private security uniform, and he was shot to his death. Although the deceased suspect is unidentified, it was confirmed that he made at least one reference to Allah. Additionally, he asked at least one person if they were Muslim. It is unsure what the motive of the attack was, but St. Cloud Police Chief Blair Anderson confirmed it was not an act of terrorism. Witnesses said they were shopping when they heard screaming and saw people running. When the incident was heard, the entire mall went into lockdown; nobody was allowed in or out. Several gunshots were heard in the attack as well. Luckily, all injuries were not life-threatening, and everyone will be okay.

Prior to reading this article, I had not heard of the stabbing spree. I'm sure if I had watched the news lately, I would have definitely heard about it. This event reminded me of the stabbing spree that occurred on the campus of the University of California Merced in November of 2015. Only four were wounded in this event, but like the Minnesota case, all were expected to be okay. I think this article was written to inform the world of what happened in St. Cloud. I think this article will spread awareness to make people more self-aware when in public. I can connect this article to when Julius Ceaser was assassinated by Marcus Junius Brutus. He did it for power and to make a political statement. This attack in Minnesota was also most likely done to make a political statement. I hope people will learn from this event, and I hope the victims and their families will heal quickly.
