More and more students are typing notes now instead of taking notes by hand. It makes sense- most people can type faster than they can write, but students who type more do worse on tests. Even though they write more information, they are significantly worse at application questions. Researchers think it's because we write slowly that writing is helpful. When writing notes, students are forced to summarize and process more information than those who are copying down the lecture verbatim. It's also helpful when studying to be able to flip back to see quick summaries and diagrams. Many schools in the US have started using online textbooks. Similar studies have been done and e-books have proven to be inferior to actual books when retaining information. They also cause eye strain and headaches. This goes to show that just because something can be made easier by technology, it doesn't mean it should.

I think this is a cry interesting concept, and I agree. I felt I didn't learn much in a class I took when j was writing down every single note. And having everything online is also difficult because technology can't always be dependable because sometimes they break or the wifi stops working and it difficult to do something by a midnight deadline.

I agree with you, although technology is handing and easier, sometimes it's not always the best choice.
