On Thursday, NASA's Kepler, which searches for habitable planets, went into emergency mode for three days before becoming stable again. Since it's release in 2009, Kepler has surveyed the Milky Way, detecting nearly 5,000 exoplanets, 1,000 which have since been confirmed. It has also discovered a planet said to be Earth's older cousin in the "habitable zone".
The technology we have developed over time is incredible. This little spacecraft has expanded our knowledge of planets and the galaxy, with many discoveries still to come. This is similar to the many amazing landmarks in space history like Neil Armstrong being the first man on the moon.
