In an interview, Obama admitted that he feels his worst mistake was "failing to plan for the day after what I think was the right thing to do in intervening in Libya." In 2011, a NATO-led intervention in Libya led to the toppling and eventual death of Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi. He says that he doesn't regret intervening in Libya, but he does regret the lack of action afterwards and the current "mess" Libya finds itself in today. He wishes that the US and the UN had done more afterwards.
This relates to what we recently studied in class where JFK's biggest mistake was the colossal failure that was the Bay of Pigs invasion. The CIA trained Cuban spies to invade Cuba and topple Fidel Castro, but it was a horrible failure and the biggest failure of JFK's presidency.

At least he's accepting and taking responsibility for his mistakes, but what is he doing to fix them? Dont just leave them for the next president to deal with.
ReplyDeleteI think that it's good that he is admitting to the mistake. It makes him more trustworthy that he can admit something like that. -Mattie Whisler 9th period Flex
