"Health Scare at Malibu School Sets Off Media War" Julia Plummer pd. !

Recently, the media has been ablaze with outraged parents and concerned citizens, angry about bad physical conditions in schools around the country. Schools such as Malibu High School in California, alleged to have potentially dangerous PCBs in its walls are dealing with angry parents who insist that they do something about this situation, by saying that these substances in their buildings are not harmful. Air tests, and others of the sort, have been taken, and don't seem to show the environment these kids are in as being dangerous, but you never know.

In the early 1900s, people around the world believed radium to be a non-harmful, and even beneficial substance for people to consume and use in their every day lives. The difference is, that now people recognize that radium is harmful, and alienate it, but these PCBs are not being taken out of school environments, even though they could create serious health problems for students and teachers alike. The question is, though, if Malibu High School is backed by such wealthy people, why aren't they doing anything to fix this problem? They certainly have the budget, but something is missing.

  1. If this school actually cared for its students, it seems that they would do everything they could to ensure the students' safety. I think it would be beneficial to this school to take out the PCBs, just as an extra measure to take care of the students. -Claudia Anthony
