4th Man Executed In Georgia This Year- Carlos Joglar

On Tuesday, Kenneth Fults became the fourth man to be executed in Georgia this year. Accused of murdering a woman during a 1996, Fults plead guilty to the crime. One juror brought up the question that the death penalty ruling was imposed out of racial bias. The attorneys tried to take his case to the Supreme Court with the argument, but an agreement could not be reached. Cults apparently had a very tough and traumatizing childhood, full of abuse, neglect, and even an intellectual disability, leaving lasting behavioral difficulties, reflected by the crime spree of that January in 1996.

Many people have attempted to ban the death penalty using the eight amendment as an argument. The eight argument bans cruel and unusual punishment. I do not believe in the death penalty, simply because an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind, and death should not be a punishment for killing. There is no justification, and no good is done. However, it is legal. When reviewing this case, I do believe there is a possibility that there was a racial bias. Many caucasians have killed more than one person, unlike Fults, and have escaped with lesser punishments. Especially seeing he had a traumatic childhood, I feel that death was not the right punishment.
