the idea of meditating at school was mostly laughed at until the students at Marblehead High school all tried it before a french class one day. the school psychologist wanted to try different things to make the students less stressed out at school. she initially thought that the kids would make fun of it and not be willing to accept it but she was surprised when all of the students reacted positively and wanted to do it again. now it is a normal thing that the students do before a few of their classes. one of the students who has had anxiety disorders said that meditating has helped her be more relaxed and willing to learn in the classroom. now the school even offers a zen room where students go in and relax during breaks or study hall.
this is great that teachers are trying their best to improve the mind state that their students are in. a lot of teachers and parents forget that we sometimes do not have the time or energy to be perfect students that can get perfect grades and turn in absolutely everything on time. the fact that this school is putting their student's mental health first makes me happy because that seems to be forgotten very often these days. this ties in with Labor Unions who fought to be treated fairly and eventually achieving what they want.
