Victoria Rhodes 5th- Black Women Harassed on a Bus

3 black women were harassed by a large group of white men on a bus. the 3 women were students of the State University of New York in Albany and said that they were verbally and physically harassed by the men. a video was caught both on a cell phone camera and the security camera that the bus had on it. the men did not hold back on insulting them with racial slurs or physically assaulting them. the entire situation is being taken very seriously by the community. a rally was held by the students of  the university and the staff is making it very clear that they will not let this kind of racial injustice happen at the school. the women are clearly hurt over what happened but in an interview they said that they are proud of who they are and won't let this break them.

the fact that harassment of  this gravity can happen anywhere even on a public bus is unsettling. i am confused reading this because I'm sure that they were not the only people on the bus and especially because someone was recording this go down. why didn't anyone step in and stop it? why didn't the bus driver stop and tell the men to get off? we shouldn't live in a world where women have to fear of getting on a bus. the rally that the students attended reminds me off the civil rights movement when people stood up for equal rights.

  1. No one should have to go through this. It's awful that we live in a world where this sort of things happens for something as minute as that

  2. This story deeply saddens me. Despite how our country has grown, this shows there are still ways we need to grow. My deepest thoughts go out to the group of women who had to deal with such ignorance and hatred.
