Victoria Garza "Zika Disease: Many Problems, Few Answers"

Over 20 countries have recently been monitoring the Zika outbreak. Cases have been popping up around the world. Microcephaly is a birth defect where babies are born with an abnormally small head which can hinder proper brain development. A cure hasn't been found yet, and researchers are rightfully hesitant/against testing possible treatments on pregnant women.
Diseases with no known or tested cures are always difficult situations. It's crazy that despite how evolved and "superior" we've become, a mosquito, creature barely the size of our nail, is causing this world wide spread of the disease and the deformities in babies. I'm not sure how we will be able to create treatment or a preventative method without harming pregnant women or their children in the process. This is similar to the other sicknesses those darn mosquitoes have caused throughout history including Malaria, Dengue, Yellow Fever, and the West Nile Virus.
