As of Saturday, presidential hopeful Jeb Bush dropped out of the race after what this article calls "one of the saddest campaigns in recent history". This article highlights the seven most awkward moments of his campaign, starting with his slogan, "Jeb!". 1) Bush decided put a exclamation point in the place of his last name, and he was made fun of relentlessly for it. 2) His second moment was when, during a debate, Donald Trump offered him a low five, and Jeb's clap was much too aggressive. 3) The third moment was when Jeb admitted to having smoked weed before, which he was also mocked for and nicknamed "Jeb Kush". 4) His fourth awkward moment was also just a bit creepy, when Jeb said in an interview that he saw Supergirl on TV and thought she was "pretty hot" and that he's looking forward to that show. 5) His fifth moment was answering "Would you go back in time and kill baby Hitler?" with "Hell yeah I would!". 6) His next moment was an awkward chest bump (the vine is hilarious). 7) His final awkward (and pretty sad) moment was asking his crowd in New Hampshire to "please clap" after their silence followed one of his points.

Reading this article made me feel a little bad for the guy. The article didn't even mention the "stuff happens" quote or the whole thing with the turtles. Yeah he has his faults, but many people who have met him say he's a nice and genuine guy. When I first read the title of this article, I immediately thought of the humiliation that Herbert Hoover felt when FDR beat him by a landslide for president in the election of 1932, because Jeb's sad little face reminded me of the political cartoon in our textbook of the embarrassed face of Hoover next to the exuberant face of FDR next to him in the car.
Goodbye Jeb, and hopefully a goodbye to the Bush dynasty.

Not being the favored candidate can have some downfalls, but putting ideas out there (just as Herbert Hoover attempted to with his solutions to the Great Depression) is what helps others understand options for creating a better nation.

This is also kind of like when Wilson supported the League of Nations but the rest of the US didn't and he was humiliated because of it.
ReplyDeleteHa! But I mean this is why people apparently like Donald Trump because of his "charisma" and Jeb wasn't doing much anyways
