In the Upper West Side of New York, trash has filled up the sidewalks and residents are awaiting its much needed pick up. Many residents are stating "Frankly, it’s disgusting and it’s attracting rats" and "About 65 percent of the buildings on the Upper West Side are brownstones and they simply can’t hold more than four to five days of recyclable garbage – especially the week after Christmas". Recycling pick up was changed this year so they experienced a double holiday with no trash pick up.
Since the Upper West Side is normally such a nice clean area, I'm surprised they let the trash build up get so out of control. Not only is it unappealing, but it is attracting bugs and rodents to the area.

ReplyDeleteThe amount of trash I see around Dallas and especially White Rock Lake is disgusting and awful. The efforts of small groups are helpful but I think that if people really want to see change they need to help out to see actual results.
This also surprises me because the Upper West Side is suck a nice area in New York City. This problem needs attention immediately because it is going to be really hard to get rid of all the rodents and bugs that the unattended trash attracted.

I agree, the Upper West Side is known for being clean and it should stay that way. Something needs to be done about the trash buildup. It is unsanitary.
ReplyDeleteI agree with these other comments, I hope that something is being done to clean up the Upper West Side. Residents shouldn't have to live in these conditions. Also, tourists and visitors of NY won't have the same respect for this beautiful part of town.
