So I'm sure everyone has heard of the resent protesters in Oregon who took over the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge. The basis of their protest is "We're here because the people have been ignored." This is all well and good- Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and actions, but what gets me is that this display of "rights" is absolutely ineffective. The protesters who over took the federal building on the reserve did not even accept the local sheriff's offer for a safe passage out of the state and instead decided to continue their very effective strike inside their fortress.
Some issues clearly need to be resolved but this form of protest is so pointless and not thought through. The protesters could have taken example from any great revolutionary- Gandhi, pre-American Revolution protesters, etc. If these people want to be heard maybe they should try to actually contact who ever they are trying to get the attention of. I believe that if you are amendment enough about something you go out and secure it. Maybe the reason they aren't being hear is because they aren't communicating. I mean you do after all make the bed that you lie in.
