United Airlines Flight Passanger Detained due to Threatening Messages--Becca Brandt 4th

Saturday morning, a passenger on a United Airlines flight was detained by Canadian authorities. The passenger was on the way to Denver when a threatening message was found on board. The crew elected to divert the flight and landed the plane in Vancouver. The crew quickly got the rest of the passengers in the air and on the way to Colorado, however they have the suspect in custody. The message is never revealed in the article, however we assume it is pretty severe in order for a passenger to be obtained. The article says that United spokesman Charlie Hobart did not reveal the nature of the threat.

It is a good feeling to know that the authorities take even the smallest things such as a message this serious. Ever since 9/11, airport security has really tightened. Because of the events and effects of 9/11, this change in security has made me feel safe and I am sure others feel the same way. 9/11 was a tragic event and I wish it never would've happened, but that is what it took to make flying safer.

  1. It is interesting to see how prominent the effects of 9/11 are even today. I don't believe America will never be the same.

  2. I agree with you, it is comforting to know that the authorities still take a small message serious.

  3. I agree too, every little thing should be taken seriously because of past events such as 9/11. So nothing like that would ever happen again.
